GI Film Festival Trailer Wars: ‘The Last Ring Home’ vs. ‘Places Like This’

It’s time to vote in the seventh matchup of Trailer Wars, as we select the best trailer for a film screening at this year’s GI Film Festival.

Trailers representing 16 of the more than 50 films set for the festival were chosen by GIFF officials and pitted against each other in a single-elimination format. To vote in today’s matchup, “The Last Ring Home” versus “Places Like This,” simply scroll down to watch the trailers, then scroll farther to click on our poll. But act fast: Voting concludes Friday, when we announce our final first-round battle.

The Last Ring Home is a 27-minute WWII documentary that traces the incredible story of the Annapolis ring of a US Navy officer and hero, Lt Cdr Minter Dial.
Places Like This is the story of a group of veterans embarking on a six day winter expedition into the Colorado wilderness hoping to use nature to nurture old wounds.

The winner will face either “After the Fire” or “American Veteran” in the second round. Other second-round matchups include the following films, all of which have trailers available for viewing here:
